Food Safe Spring Cleaning

Spring is here! Roll out your grills and roll up your sleeves –
it’s time to clean up before we grill out.

First things first, what shape are your grates in?

If they look anything like he rusted-out cast iron grates below, PLEASE replace them before you cook for your family and friends this season. Visit the Shop By Brand page and shop sets for popular grill brands.

Stainless Steel and even Cast Iron grates will eventually look like this over time.

Have an old gasser but not sure what model it is? You can visit our Gas Grills page and use the calculator to find a set that will either sit on top of or replace your current set. See below.

Next up, NO MORE TRADITIONAL GRILL BRUSHES. EVER. We mean it.

Every year on the news we hear about some poor unsuspecting person trying to enjoy a grilled meal, only to end up at the hospital with a GRILL BRUSH BRISTLE lodged in their throat. Not only is this SUPER painful, but it also usually requires surgery and will DEFINITELY ruin your meal.

We got this picture from a blog by our friends at Grill Rescue, another great grill brush alternative.

The Stainless Steel Grate Valley Brush features a double-helix, bristle-free design that will get your grates clean and keep you safe. PLUS, stainless-steel means it won’t rust if you accidentally leave it outside a few times. Designed for GrillGrates but works on traditional grates if you haven’t made the switch yet. Get yours here.

The Grate Valley Brush is made of one long piece of metal wrapped super tight to create these barrels that fit perfectly in the valleys of your GrillGrates.

Finally, our favorite food-safe one-two punch, the Grill & Grate Cleaner Combo.

This spring when you’re reaching for your favorite spray cleaner, ask yourself, “Is this cleaner safe if some should happen to get on my food?”

If the answer is “no”, it’s time to make a change.

Our all-natural spray cleaner with plant-based ingredients works wonders on disgusting grates and even the outside of a dirty grill. Just spray it, let it set, and then scrub it down with the Commercial Grade Grill Brush.

And in case you’re wondering about a “grill brush” after the above point we just made, those bristles are a special high-heat plastic.

Get the The Grill & Grate Cleaner Combo here.

Have a [food] safe & fun grilling season!

GrillGrate. Eat Well.
