This definitely help with reducing flare ups, and it does help getting a great grill marks. I use it regularly with burgers, asparagus etc.

I already have GG's for my gas grill. adding this set to the Kamado Joe classic is a no brainer! Great results on flat side for griddle style cooking. And ridged side for those super steak house style marks . Both give beautifully moist direct cooking results.
These GG's can be also used as a heat damper, instead of the standard Kamado Joe heat deflectors. Great for doing roasts at 350-400 F .

I grilled prime RIB EYE STEAKS on my Big Green Egg and they cooked perfectly. I had a container with garlic,1 stick butter,rosemarysprigs and tyme sprigs .while I moved steaks on grates for grill marks,Ibrushed steaks with the sprigs soaked in melted butter .8 minutes total comes to 4min. per side flipping and turning. They were a purfect medium rare. Forget "going out" save your tip for the chef!!

You are reading through these reviews and watching youtube videos trying to decide if you should buy these or not. Buy them. You will love them. Its that simple. But, if I need to write more to convince you how much I love them... then let me write a little more. I have owned them for only a week and have cooked everything from steak, wings, grilled cheese, veggies. They leave gorgeous marks! And all your fat and juices that would have otherwise drained or dripped in to the fire get sizzled back up to coat your food. I am sure your food is tasting amazing already... and your family raves about your BBQ skills... But if you want to achieve the next level, get them... at least get them for self. Even if your family and friends say nothing at all; your grilling self esteem will raise of the charts. My first time using I noticed that they would slide back a little when going in to flip the food. Eventually they held in place better as they began to change color and season up. I use mine on a large size Big Green Egg. If you are using a square grill, you will probably not have this issue since your grates are likely to fit perfect. For the BGE, they sit in the center of the original grate as no not restrict the BGE's air flow it needs to maintain a burn. My first time calling customer service, I asked if they had an accessory to clamp or hold the grates in place solidly. The rep was grate... I mean, great. She recommended that I could use some grate thermometer clips. I have not received them yet... but I ordered a 6 pack and will use 3 of them at the back of the BGE original grate to provide a back stop to keep them in place. Also, about the huge Grate Spatula... Its nice... and I like it. However, I like the Grate Tongs much much better. I wish GrillGrate gave the option to ship grates with one or the other, because its much easier to gently pick up and turn my burgers, steaks, and veggies than to flip them and let them hit the grate hard. I say this because when cooking with GrillGrates, you will want to turn your food and strategically place it in its next spot or turn... not flip it and just let it hit somewhere. Between cooks, scrape the flat grate surface clean and use the tongs or spatula to scrape out the valleys. You do not have to be OCD about getting them perfectly clean. Just clear off the debris and get them hot. I should probably stop writing since this is getting long.... Again, buy them. You will enjoy having these.

I have used by Gig Green Egg for years. Even owns two of them. I was a bit skeptical that this could get hotter than the cast iron Grate. Boy was I wrong. It really gets hot and sears the meat well. I even turn it over to cook pizzas and get a nice crispy crust.
The Grillgrates are a most have if you have a large Big Green Egg.

I was literally blow away at how good my ribeyes tasted after using these grates.
It was like I was in NYC city eating at Peter Lugar’s Steat House. No more flare ups you can cook everything from veggies and fish with no issues. Everything taste so good.

I’ll start by saying I use a Classic Kamado Joe and have the cast iron 1/2 grill and 1/2 iron flat top that has raised grooves on one side. I’ll say I now prefer grillgrates over the iron so don’t spend the money on the iron just go with this way. And these are worlds better than the standard ones. They are just getting seasoned good which takes some cooks. So I think I’ll like even more after that.

There was a little manufacturing blemmish on one panel but I didn't feel it was going to effect how they cook so I didn't ask for a replacement panel. I haven't used them yet so I can't review how they cook.I do have some Grill Grates that I bought from Adrenaline BBQ for my Weber kettle and they work fine.

I don't write online reviews usually... but like others I felt like I had to regarding this product. I'm a big steak fan, especially ribeye cooked hot and fast on my Kamado Joe. The issue is with high temps and fatty meat you get scorching... not so great. But with the GG this problem is solved... even heat. Awesome marks. Wonderful flavorful crust. NO FLAREUPS. No issued. Just awesome steak. If you are on the fence about these, just do it. You won't be disappointed!

I was skeptical this was all it was said to be as that is usually the case. I was replacing my cast iron grate which I really liked but gave the grill grate a try. I have now made ribeyes, chicken breasts and skirt steak fajitas over the last 2 weeks and all of them were better than my cast iron. There is a lot to be said about preventing flair ups. It really did make a huge difference and everything was far juicier and perfectly cooked.
My only complaint is that you can’t lift the grate without it coming apart. I found this out when one of the grates fell off on our patio and bent the edge. Now this took a lot of work to get it back in the channel and now due to the slight bend it’s permanent stuck together onthose sections. Lesson learned, don’t try to take off the grill withou taking apart. This was after the first cook. ☹️ Overall and despite that this is a winner upgrade and it comes in as advertised .
