I cook on the grill nearly every day and am always looking for ways to improve the results. After my third or fourth set of wire racks fell apart, the engineer in me started to think about designing a rack that could capture more of the heat and sear at a higher temperature.
Grill Grates do this plus they capture the fat in the channels, which bastes the food, enhances the flavor, and greatly reduces flare-ups. I now cook the food, that I previously had to cook indirectly, directly on the grill.
I tend to go large, so I chose the heavier, Commercial grates and trimmed them to size using a metal-cutting blade on a power miter saw.
The grates are made from hard-anodized aluminum similar to Claphalon cookware. They won't corrode and are relatively non-stick.
After several weeks of steady use and variety of foods, I haven't lost a single food item to a flare-up. These grills are truly amazing!
