GrillGrates provide protected, high-heat grilling on the Primo Oval XL 400. The bottom plate blocks hot rushing air and flames from charring and drying out food, keeping the juices sizzling with the food instead of feeding the flames. GrillGrates are used on top of the existing grate surface. Every set comes with a GrateTool which is part fork, park spatula that fits between the rails to get under your food and lift it without scraping.

I love my grill grates. They’ve become my replacement grates for my Webber Summit. The only problem is on my Primo when I set them on top of the grates. They slide pretty easily and the lip of the grill isn’t high enough to stop them. Just something to be mindful of...
A Great Addition to My Primo XL
Posted by Adam on Mar 2nd 2017
I have thoroughly enjoyed the GrillGrates. These have been a great addition to my Primo XL. They are awesome for grilling and searing. They get really hot and prevent flare-ups. When I am reverse searing steaks, I like to place the flat side of the panel up.
I have also found they are nice to install between the deflector plates and the OEM grates during a low and slow cook (around 220°F). I place the meat on the OEM grates, but when the drippings start running off the meat, you can hear the “flavor bombs” sizzle when they hit the GrillGrates.
After using my GrillGrates several times, I decided to order an 18.5” gap panel. For my grill, this worked out perfect. Now the GrillGrates span across both sides of the fire box when they are all interlocked . And when I am doing a reverse sear, I only use half of the panels, so the additional 1.125” in length over the panels in the kit gives me piece of mind that I will not accidentally drop my GrillGrates into the firebox.
The BEST ?

GrillGrates are a Sizzling Hot Invention!

GrillGrates are as awesome as my Primo Ceramic grill! They have made grilling and even low temperature cooking much more consistent by evenly magnifying the heat across the grate and for getting those professional sear marks/flavor bars. I can now use every inch of my grilling surface with confidence in knowing my food will cook more evenly and flare-ups are a thing of the past. By design, their infrared and flavor enhancing capabilities is proven by producing consistently juicy steaks and burgers with less shrinkage. I believe all new and old grills should be equipped with GrillGrates. They are portable and I take them with me to use on my relatives charcoal and gas grills. They all believe I'am a Master griller, which is why you should invest in GrillGrates, a good meat thermometer and timer. You'll never go back to anything else! Thanks for a great invention! The only recommendation I have would be to come up with a way to lock them down to the existing grates. Possibly a spring loaded hook going through one of the forward drain holes in each panel may work.
