A staple at the lunch counter of your favorite diner the diner-style patty melt is an amazing burger that can be enjoyed almost any time of the day.

A grilled burger patty combines with grilled onions and melted swiss cheese and gets a perfect amount of crunch from toasted rye bread.

Diner-Style Patty Melt

 5 oz ground beef
  sweet onion sliced thinly
 1 tbsp butter
 2 swiss cheese
 2 rye bread

Form the ground beef into a rectangular burger patty about the same size and shape of your bread slices. Season with salt and pepper and set aside.

Preheat the SearNSizzle™ in the middle position on broil for 10 minutes with rails down.

Place the butter on the flat side of the SearNSizzle™ and saute the onion in the butter on broil with a pinch of salt for about 5 minutes or until the onions become wilted and slightly translucent.

Set aside.

Carefully, flip the SearNSizzle™ so the rails are up and repeat the preheating. Once preheated, grill the burger for about 4-6 minutes total or to your desired doneness flipping once.

Put the rye bread slices on the SearNSizzle™ and air fry for 2 minutes. Flip the bread and put the grilled onion evenly on each slice. Top the onion with the swiss cheese and air fry for another 1-2 minutes or until the cheese starts to melt.

Put the burger between the slices of bread with melted cheese and onion.

Serve immediately.
