Grate Tongs to hard to use
Posted by Judy on Feb 16th 2020
The grip is way to tight. Takes both hands to grip and remove the grill grate from the Ninja Foodi.
Brad here- The Tongs take a bit of getting used to. For grabbing food you should not need two hands- but on the Grate - two hands is probably better. We had a customer show us how they used the Tongs to remove the Sear N Sizzle while its still warm- not something we thought of frankly. Give the Tongs a chance - but you have 90 days to return them too.

As said in many reviews these tongs are really hard to close. Has anyone tried heating the curve to "rebend" the shape. Maybe this would modify the tension,
I thought we fixed that with this last batch. They can be PRESSED at the bend and that will bring them in from being too wide. Brad
Small item solution

Grate tongs are a good accessory to make your grilling easier. They specifically help you lift and turn small items on a crowded grill. Things like small lamb chops, hot dogs, wings, brats, etc. A good compliment to the full size grate fork.

if you own a grill grate you absolutely have to have these tongs. There made to fit in-between the groves for easy flipping. I love mine.

I bought a pair of the tongs after using the spatula. I was very impressed with the spatula and how well it works. Not so with the tongs. Way too much tension. I went back to my old tongs that I’ve had for many years.
I would not recommend these.
Good Quality, Needs Improvement

I bought a set of tongs about 5 years ago with my first set of Grill Grates. The metal was a little thinner, and they were easy to operate. Unfortunately, I dropped them on the ground and one side broke off at the handle. Ordered new tongs, and first thing I noticed was the thicker metal and nicer wood handles. When I cut the zip tie holding them shut, SPROING!!! It's no joke, your hand gets tired operating these tongs. Switch from right to left for a good hand grip workout. Don't use for hot dogs... you might lose a couple! It would be Grate if you could get your manufacturer to close them up a bit.
I like this product.

They work perfectly with the grates
Popeye forearms soon?

I just received my Grate Tongs, so no idea on their long term durability. They do work.
However, they are widely spread and my big hands were starting to ache after using the tongs while grilling three pieces (1 pound) of skirt steak (i.e. very short time). Not at all like my favorite grill tongs from pre-GGE (Grill Grate Era)
Grate if I could squeeze them

I’ve used the GG Spatula for two years and the invention is ingenious. So I had my wife buy me the thongs for Father’s Day. I find the spring tension far too tight to use safely.
If I choke up on the handle I could use it with two hands but that limits its reach to the front of the grill. Can’t use it for the rear without the risk of burning myself.
I would give it 5 stars if The spring tensioning was manageable and it had 4 prongs.
