My GrillGrate griddle warped BADLY while heating up for a hot cook (searing a steak) but flattened down to nearly normal during the subsequent cook/sear. It is now only mildy warped...slightly elevated on the back rear corner. The GrillGrate is interlocked only with other GrillGrate components (which cover my entire Weber Genesis II grill) and is not sitting on top of another grate.
Joel we have seen very little of that. If it persists please contact us directly.

I'll be honest, I was a little unsure about these griddle plates but I own two sets of GrillGrates and love them so figured I'd give the griddles a try. I'm glad I did because I really like them. They hold heat well and are easy to clean up. Made some truly excellent smash burgers on them and am looking forward to trying them with homemade pizzas. Might have to buy a couple more so I can cover the whole grill...
Hot, Hot, Hot -- Useful!

I've replaced my old grates with 1/3 "griddle" and 2/3 "traditional grate" from GrillGrate and I can finally get the kind of sear and cook I want on a range of items. Really helps tap into, and control the heat from my relatively small three-burner gas grill.
The wife stole it

The wife stole my griddle plate to use as a defroster inside the house. I get nasty looks anytime I mention using it as a griddle and may have to get a second one just to use it on the grill.
Keep her happy Greg! It really works as a defrost plate- I have one inside that we don't grill on, learned that same lesson!

This was my first GrillGrates purchase as they were out of stock on the regular GrillGrates I wanted, so I started with this product. It does a great job. If I had purchased the GrillGrates first, (which I got a couple of weeks later) I might have passed on the griddle as the grates turned upside down will probably meet 90% of my needs. But, I can see a definite use if you are grilling eggs or smaller things that would fall through the holes in the regular grates. It worked super well when I cooked bacon on it!!
The Griddle opens up a whole new grilling world.

First tried the Griddle as a replacement for one section my GrillGrates, seasoned it with bacon strips and then tried cooking some veggies on it. Handling the veggies - flipping and moving around was very easy - but being exposed to the gas burners resulted in some hot spots on the Griddle. Next time, replaced the GrillGrates and put the Griddle on top -- the results were absolutely excellent. We've tried eggs, pancakes, and other stuff and everything turned out perfect. My wife really likes the idea of me cooking bacon outside.
Good point here- for optimum heat uniformity going on top of GrillGrates is ideal. Brad
unstable, not great for a kettle

maybe I'm using it wrong but I can not get this to stay in place ontop of my grillgrates on my kettle. not to mention there's nothing on the site that shows what size is best for the kettle. it slides all over the place when making smash burgers when trying to smash them and scrape them off
Brad here- point well taken we need to figure out how to suggest sizes for Griddle. I just checked and the 19.25" Griddle is ideal for the 22" Kettle. Adam if you find this please call our office and we'll make this right for you!
Cleaning a great product

Hey - i used the Griddle to sear a sous-vide cooked chuck roast & had trouble removing stuck protein residue until i decided to give it a shot from the garden hose, which essentially deglazed the hot surface!Lean as new!
Be careful not to hose down a hot griddle though- it may warp. That said the little yellow scraper really works on the griddle in the sink. https://www.grillgrate.com/griddle-scraper/

Ordered a full set of grill grates for my gas grill a long time ago and just love them. Was planning on flipping a few grates over to the flat side when I saw the griddle and ordered it. Cooked some bacon on them to get it nice and seasoned and started using it. Great for veggies, fish and small items that tend to fall in the groves plus works well for burgers. Really happy with my purchase.

I like that I can leave it on the grill and not worry about rust; most of the time, I have the griddle on half of the grill and grates on the other half. I don’t think it retains heat as well as cast iron, which isn’t a problem for something like smash burgers, but I use a melting dome when making a grilled cheese sandwich.
