This is a great twist on a classic breakfast dish. Stuffing and grilling brings a whole other layer of flavour and texture to french toast. If you like jelly doughnuts, you will love this.

Directions

Step 1

Using a paring knife make a small slit in the side of each slice of bread, going almost to the other side but not all the way through. Set aside.

Step 2

In a medium bowl whisk together granulated sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract. Add in eggs and whisk to combine.

Step 3

Arrange the sliced brioche in a 9x13-inch baking dish. Pour egg mixture over the break, let soak for at least 30 minutes.

Step 4

Remove bread from egg mixture and place directly on rails down grill grate. Grill for 5-7minutes allowing bread to brown, flip and repeat on other side.

Step 5

While toast is cooking prepare filling. In a medium bowl combine the cream cheese and ricotta, beat with mixer until light and fluffy. Gently fold in jam or fresh fruit. Put filling in a piping bag and set aside.

Step 6

Remove bread from grill once browned and allow to cool 2-3 minutes; cool enough to handle.

Step 7

Once able to handle pipe the filling inside the bread via the slit of the bread.

Step 8

Once plated dust with powdered sugar and additional fresh fruit if desired.
